How Vibration Test Systems Work

By Helene Norris

A characteristic quality of all machines that are used in industries is vibration. These machines have to work in a proper manner and this is why vibration test systems must be applied. Sometimes the required levels of vibration may be exceeded. It being a sign of problems, instant action should be applied without delay.

Differentiation between acceptable, normal and emergency vibrations is very crucial as far as machines are concerned. The replacement or servicing of equipment is highly reliant on these three important factors. The stimulation of harsh environmental conditions is done by positioning an object into a machine so as to establish how it will perform under such conditions.

The procedure is used in determining whether a machine can be able to withstand environmental conditions that are stressful. Another reason why this test is very important is that it is able to establish which of the machine parts need to be rendered of no more use. The result is that proper functionality of machines is ensured in the long run.

It is important to note that low frequency testing applies hydraulic force in order to produce vibrations. Many electrical devices contain relays, which are basically electromechanical switches. They must go through a test for this mechanical phenomenon which causes a stimulation of the vibrations that may be experienced within the equipment.

If the above mechanical phenomenon takes place and it is not detected, then this means that the system has considerably failed. This means the device has to be improved to enhance its performance. The machine might function poorly as a result of heavy vibration. This might lead to it getting damaged.

As long as the machine is in operation, the duration for testing vibrations should be as continuous as possible. This should be so because a device's working condition might take long before it breaks down. To be sure of the relays' holding up capacity, the intensity of the vibrations should be increased.

During the test, there must be secure attachment of sensors. Accuracy of readings is vital and therefore, they must be left attached to the relay device. Most materials, when subjected to high heat, will break easily. The same applies to high levels of this mechanical phenomenon. The subjection of high heat level to equipment is substantial for them to maintain their performance ability when faced with vibrations.

Shock is sometimes experienced as a result of heavy vibration during a test. Permanent damages such as deformation and fractures are at times experienced. Shocks can sometimes lead to fasteners dislodging or relay chattering. In order to find out whether or not the equipment will be able to withstand vibrations, these factors should be considered.

Sine and random vibrations are crucial when it comes to establishing equipment vibration resistance. There is a high possibility of the destruction of relay systems that have poorly been designed. The main factor to be used in determining equipment resistance when the test is being performed is vibration. Equipment should be able to perform well and be able to hold up for long when exposed to this mechanical phenomenon, and hence, vibration test systems are very useful.
